Talking to Valentine from Aromalogic

Talking to Valentine from Aromalogic

1- Tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a nature-loving woman that likes honest people and products. I like the world to be treated well and want people to be kind.

2- How did you get into Aromatherapy & Essences?

It all started when my boyfriend brought me a manuscript about aromatherapy and some essential oils. He was opening a new club and wanted me to use the oils to create scents for the parties. This was the early 90s and this was a completely new experience, mixing scents and sounds and video, but it was a great success. During my time there, I started working with an “Aromatherapy” company to learn more about aromatherapy. The club became my testing ground to try out new scents and perfect the craft.

3 — What is the story behind Aromalogic?

After making every product made to measure in the Scent Agency House of Hulsman I thought it is time to create a skincare cosmetic line for girls and boys, men and women from the age of 15 to 100 years. Just a real, nature-friendly, ecological, plant power cosmetic line. No plastics or anything else but pure plants with essential oils.

4 — What is your favorite Aromalogic product?

Stay Young, Die Pretty is my favorite but I love every product and use them all.

5 — Do you have a favorite spot in Amsterdam?

I love sitting at the Indian House to have a drink or sitting at L’Europe by the water to have a drink and some bitterballen. My favorite spot is The Orangery in the Botanical Garden.

6 — What does shopping local mean to you?

I like to support entrepreneurs, if you make something good and want to do something nice, I am a supporter.

7 — What is the best book you’ve read?

I have three books that I always recommend:

  • Quantum Healing by Deepak Chopra
  • The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parenting by Deepak Chopra
  • The Witches of Karres by James Schmitz

8 — What was the most embarrassing fashion trend that you were part of?

Roots sneakers. I had a pair of all-white Roots sneakers, these were so popular back in the days but looking back I think to myself “how did I like this shoe!”
